hi i have a pioneer dvr-105 dvd rw drive in my comp but it refuses to read any discs i put in it. the litte disc icon comes up around the cursor as if its reading the disc but it never does and always says drive is empty no matter what disc i put in. ive upgraded the drivers uninstalled and reinstalled them and am about out of ideas. im assuming the laser is gone. i was wondering if i buy a new internal dvd burner how i would make it external. i know i wud have to by an enclosure but thats about all i know lol. any help would be much appreciated. thanks all

all i did was buy a couple 'known' brand USB2.0 enclosures, in my case Belkin. they've been fantastic, some of the best gadgets i've purchased

I went with Bytecc. I have 3 of them, Nec 3540 in 1, Benq 1620 in another and a little 40 gig hd in the last. I have swapped most of my drives around and all have worked. Don't expect more than 12x burns using usb though.
