I downloaded the complete installation for Windows XP Professional. It came in a zip file and when I unzipped it I ran the setup from my hard drive and it installed XP Pro perfectly!! Now what I want to do is burn all the files (unzipped) to a CD I can boot from, run the setup, and install the OS that way. I think all the necessary files are there cause I was able to get a complete installation, no problems. Bascilly I just want to re-create the install disc from the files on my hard drive (it has to be bootable). Can anyone please tell me the easiest way to do this?? What programs should I use?? Any tips or guides would be appreciated. thanx alot guys!!

I D'loaded Pro as well when you got it did you get winxpsp2.001 - .012 if so then theres a winxpsp2.rar that auto extracts the .iso just burn that using nero or achohol 120% to a cdr.

Im not quite sure what you mean by "winxpsp2.001 - .012", I dont see anything like that. When I unzip the files there's some folders, a couples other files, and the setup. Its exactly what you would see on the install disc if you went to My Computer>(right click)>Explore, and opened the contents of the install disc that way. Basically I just want to know how recreate the bootable install disc with the OS files I have on my hard drive. It it as simple as using Nero and make a bootable data CD? will that really run and install correctly??

When I unzip the files into a given folder there are 7 files total>1 application (SETUP), 2 word documents (License/AUTORUN), 1 HTML document (README), 2 other files (WIN51/WIN51IP), and 1 folder I386, in which are several other folders and system files. the total size of the files is about 438MB (when compressed into a .zip). I have an install disc of XP Home and when I open that there are a couple additional folders (SUPPORT,VAULEADD,DOC,etc...), what are these, and are they essential (when I installed XP Pro from my HD it didnt register any missing files or anything...)?? If these are all the correct files exactly how should I proceed in burning a bootable disc in Nero 6.6, there are various ways?? thanx

what is bootbin and where can I find it?? Can I copy support & valueadd from the XP Home disc, do I really need them?? there's another folder on there too called "$OEM$"...? I have a universal serial that works.

might be able to copy those 2 files from home version. bootbin might be what makes it bootable. if got xp on current system than when nero makes the disk bootable it might put bootbin on the disk.

Yea your right, on my XP Home disc the total is 483MB....uh oh... Do you think those two folders (support/valueadd) are specificly for either Home or Pro, in which case copying them wouldnt work?? do I need those folders to install off a disc cause it seemed to work fine off my HD, though I didnt fully test everything. Also there's no bootbin folder on the Home disc, do you know why? yea Im running XP Home, yea hopefully Nero would just create that other folder if I need it. Incidently, where did you get you copy of XP Pro??
