Hi, I'm new to all this. trying to make image file with shrink but comes up with error. Is there anyway to just burn the video_ts files
Hi blahblah3, Download DVD Shrink. Open it and click “Edit”, and then click “Preferences” under the “File I/O” Tab - tick “Enable burning with Nero” then click “OK”. DO USE Ritek G04, Verbatim or media boasting “Advanced AZO Dye. All other media could very well cause errors, only the very best media should be used for DVD Video backups. Now is defiantly not the time to put your crappy cheap stuff in - ) Now, take just a second and under “Target Device” go to “Select target device” once there, select “Hard Drive Folder”. NEXT, un-tick “Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output image” box. Finally, where it says “Select target image file”, browse till you find your created folder for your backup and click “Save”. That’s it ! Click “OK” and DVD Shrink burns that VIDEO_TS folder filled with all your IFO’s, BUP’s and VOB’s files inside to your HD and since you have Nero on your PC it will open Nero and burn to disc - Good enough ?? Hi, I just got a new ( and first) dvd-recorder and have been having some troubles and questions. As I "poked" around for answers, I came across this forum. I just want to say that there is a feeling of genuine courtesy and patience in this forum that I have not seen much of elsewhere. As I read through a particular thread and noticed one guy was a little sarcastic, he was immediately discouraged to continue in that manner by a senior member and continuing I found a great deal of help in a very detailed and kind manner in helping sove a "newby's" problem/question. Just wanted to say that because it's important to realize what a forum such as this means to someone looking for help. As for me, I am having problems with very slow burning with NERO 6 after making an image with dvd shrink. I am working to find the problem and I won't ask any questions at this time 'cause I can probably find the help already somewhere in here. But I know I'll get the right answers if and when I may subject them to you. Al
Hi Al, Sorry to hear you're having difficulty. We do have alternative metheods of burning to disc (using DVD Decrypter for instance). Well thank you. Appreciate it!! I'm STILL trying to work out my problem and I'm going nowhere, unfortunately. Maybe some background and specs maybe more than you want---sorry) Motherboard- Abit Kt7A Athlon 1.2G processor 512k RAM 2 hard drives on primary IDE -- DVD player and DVD recorder on second. Recorder is the MASTER ( there was a CD-R 48X before and was fine). Pioneer DVR 107 8X but using 4X media ( Sony DVD+R and DVD+RW) I checked for all DMA settings. put newest firmware Used DVD Shrink which took 1 minute to analyse and 12 minutes for decoding. Nero ( AND dvd Shrink) to record. 4X burning drops down to 1.x and I stopped my most recent burning at 32 minutes with only 16% complete. The 2 movies I burned before took hours, but played good even on my home DVD player. I cannot for the life of me understand what is not right. My floppy drive will be seeked out occasionally while burning. No clue why. I use "burn Video" with Nero, not ISO ( which I read to do). That's it. Can't think of anything else to do. hi al, firstly welcome to club.......:> the only piece of information you dont give us is what blank media are you using. this can be of the up most importance as most of the problems discussed in these parts seem to revolve around poor media. the general opinion is only use ritek g04 or verbatim branded discs for your back ups.
Ok. It is SONY DVD+R and SONY DVD+RW 4.7G ( 1X-4X speed compatable) Yes I did hear Ritek doing great job. For lack of funds at the time I ran to my nearest Staples, could only find 4X media and chose SONY for reasons unknown. But they didn't have Ritek or Verbatim, I think only Memorex besides Sony. If this media actually could slow me down that much ( still giving me a good recording in the end, with no errors) then maybe I'm knocking my head against the wall blaming my PC or recorder. Does maybe it sound like that? Al

Al, Ssounds like dvd shrink is doing it's you. Nero seems to be "bogging" down - Have you uninstalled nero "clean" and reinstalled it "clean" ? I would also like you to burn a disc using dvd decrypter - Do you need directions for that ? Not hard really, dvd shrink iso to hd and dvd decrypter iso to disc - Pete.

Here Al, Here we go, step by step - it can’t fail. First create a folder for your HD backup. Try to put it someplace where you won’t forget it (i.e. C:/All DVD Work/My movie Name). Next download DVD Decrypter and under mode select “ISO, Write”. Un-tick the box that says “verify”. Where it says “source”, you’ll leave that blank as DVD Decrypter will find the location of your backed up DVD file automatically. Lastly, where it says “Destination”, select the drive where your burner resides. Feel free to close DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink will open it when it needs it. NEXT, [bold]IMPORTANT, [/bold] tick “Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output image” box. Finally, where it says “Select target image file”, browse till you find your created folder for your backup and click “Save”. That’s it ! Click “OK” and DVD Shrink burns that ISO image to your HD. It then opens DVD Decrypter and has it burn the ISO image to your waiting blank DVD. Don’t use your PC for anything at all while it’s working * There have been issues where playing your DVD on your burner may result in errors during processing :-( Enjoy, Pete
WOW!! OK the BIG TRY!! I actually had a little problem with decrypter. Couldn't figure how to burn to DVD after decrypting ( I'm getting oler and older). Not having an easy time with patience. Work today and I'll try it tonight. I will let you know. Somehow I think I'll conquer this thing today. Al

My ignorance is really showing now. Somehow DVD D put the files in the folder on my hard drive. Now I cannot get those files onto disc. What in the world did I do this time?
Open DVD Decrypter, "source" is on the top left side of the top window - Browse until you locate where you put your files on your PC's HD. Under that, you'll see "Destination" - select your burner, under that click the HD to Disc icon, click that - make sure you place a clean DVD disc in your burner so that DVD Decrypter has something to write too. Funny because It wouldn't read the source HD as valid or something. BUT!!--- I went back to NERO 6 and went to the folder, selected all and dragged them to the "burning" side of Nero and that baby burned the image in under 16 minutes, at 3.9X!! I have NO idea what I did or didn't do but it rocked the way it should have in the first place. The movie was the Care Bears Movie which runs 1 hour 16 minutes and is in mono. That may help the burn some, but still, it went at 3.9X. Any idea what happened. Nothing different on the computer, hard drive or folder. I just used DD D to put the image in the folder on my hard drive. The only other difference is it's one day AFTER I couldn't burn diddley. I didn't even unistall Nero and clean install it back in. I left alone. ( I am afraid to do it again,though).
