BURN DVD TO CD-Rs?

    I have only just started (as of last night)
    to rip DVDs, etc. My question is this: Are you able to, after ripping a DVD, burn that ripped movie to a CD-R as opposed to a DVD-R and have it work within any DVD player? 'Cause I'm reading around about DVD ripping and burning and such and came across this information and wanted to confirm it.
