I rip with DVDShrink but when I burn with IMG Burn, four fail for every one that is successfully burned. I am using Playo and Philips media and I just bought Sony made in Taiwan.

you're media is crap..... without knowing what movie you are doing, your choice of media will and can cause more problems than what they are worth! here is a media guide:

just remember the Made In Japan rule! Look for the MIJ on the label of the box or spindle! Verbatim is the only exception to the rule, they are made in Taiwan/Singapore and are top notch.

Just because you used these media before doesn't mean that the crappy media is consistent ... they are crap and will cause problems sooner or later!

I beg to disagree....I know that they Philips is land fill, but even the Sony MIT is still some pretty good media. The Sony should give you better results.

thanks guys. Well, I have the Sony MIT's and I haven't tried them yet but I will today. Does the fact that my laptop is a Sony Vaio have anything to do with the compatible media? Thanks again.

find out your make and model of your burn using DVDIdentifier, Nero InfoTool, or DVDDecrypter , or DVDInfoPro. Or you can just right click on MY COMPUTER then hit PROPERTIES/HARDWARE/DEVISE MANAGER...and then click CD/DVD DRIVES...then you can look up what your burn can do here:

just put in your model # in the search.... I have a BenQ DVD LS DW1655....I just put in 1655 in the search and up comes my drive and you can see what it burns (compatible disks) and what other have to say about your drive!
