Hello. New here, as well as to burning with DL's. I've been burning movies on SL discs for quite some time with a success rate of .99XXX% I've just purchased a 50pk spindle of Ativa DVD+R DL's and am on my 5th coaster, all of them failing with a burn/write error during the 2nd layer process. First, I'd like to say that I'm not very computer savvy and this is my first time on a forum that's at all computer-related, so please bare with me if I seem a bit slow or lack the proper usage of terminologies... Having said that, I did do a search and picked up on general fixes like setting booktype to DVD-ROM; trying to burn at lower speeds; etc. But with such a wide variety of setups, software, hardware, and media, it's hard for me to determine where the problem lies. Below is the error log for my last attempt (it's mostly heiroglyphic to me!). Please help me determine, if you can, whether it's a software setting issue, burner, or just crap media. FYI, I usually read original dvd files on internal drive; decode and back up with Shrink 3.2; burn with external Sony DRX-810UL (using Nero that was bundled with burner, I think). However, the log below reflects a slightly different process where I opened the Nero Express app and imported the files that's been backed up to hard drive from previous attempts.
