Hi what I am trying to do is the following: I have a substantially large MPEG2 file of about 2 Gb. I want to burn this file to a Video-DVD and play it on my DVD player. I can not use standard DVD workshop / creator or what so ever programmes, as they blow the MPEG2 up to way above 4,6 Gb, so it won’t fit anymore. However I can not burn it directly as I am lacking Ifo/Bup-files, which f.ex. Nero requires to burn it as a Video-DVD. a.) Is there any way to create the Ifo/Bup files ? Please note: IfoEdit does not work as there is no navigation pack contained in the MPEG2 file which was created from an AVI-source in the first place. b.) Is there a DVD-authoring software that allows me to keep the MPEG2 file just as it is and burn it to a Video-DVD ? If there is anybody out there who can help me, thanks a lot !! Yours N.
whompus, what the hell u said??? Use nero and make a udf data disk. Just put the mpeg on it and it should play in your player. WITHOUT IFOS BUP IN 2 GB FILE???????? CC_APP LISTEN TO ME USE SONYC MYDVD: JUST DRAG YA FILE IN IT AND WAIT FOR AUTO PREPARE DVD AND BURN WITH THE SAME PROGRAM.
My bad man! I thought we where talking about playing it from dvd in comp. I see now as reading the post again you want to play in set top. You will need to use sonic like digital-x said or movie factory or some type authoring program.
Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it. However none of mentioned progs really solves my problem - the file still gets blown up beyond the 4,5 Gb frontier ...... (Sonic MyDVD same as Ulead DVD Workshop) ... will keep on searching
I do have the same problem, all the DVD authoring programs seem to insist on reencoding the video. My current solution is to demux the mpeg stream with TMPGEnc Mpeg tools or bbtools (bbdmux) into m2v (video) and m2a (audio) streams and use the authoring feature of IFOedit to build DVD vob and ifo files. I am also trying to put the demux into a batch script or sth. Presently I am dealing with the following things: 1. At least with the DVB recordings I am dealing with video and audio are not in sync. bbinfo tells me that the audio stream starts 120.77777778 ms after the beginning of the file, but that value seems not to be enough to be entered as delay value in IFOedit. By trial and error I found that 200 ms seems to be a good value, but I only tried one movie yet and don't see any relationship to the output of bbinfo. 2. Menus are not possible this way. It might be necessary to create IFOs and menu vobs with one of the other authoring tools and combine them with the vobs from IFOedit, but Ididn't try yet 3. With the batch job I'd like to create at least a file for IFOedit to set a chapter mark every 5 minutes of the video. This is work in progress, I would be glad if someone comes up with any suggestions, experiences etc.
Use DVDPatcher. Patch .mpg file with Custom bitrate set to 8000000, Horizontal to 720(if 720, etc), Vertical to 480 NTSC, 16:9 if LBX or just leave it, First Header Only - not entire file Patch Now the .mpg file is set with a bitrate of 8000000. Using ULEAD DVD Workshop: Select Make Disc, then Custom Use 704x480 for 720x480 16:1 lbx Highest Quality 100% Set Bitrate to Constant 8264(highest), will NOT re-encode if file bitrate is lower (hence the 'patched' 8000 bitrate previous) Use LCPM for DTS/AC3, LCPM or MPEG for others Final Screen Check/Uncheck 'do not convert compliant' and see which amount is lower for needed disc size. (you want the lower amount) Hit Start and DVDWS should not reconvert your .mpg, it will just multiplex a/v. DVDWS will only re-encode if the file bitrate is higher than DVDWS custom bitrate.(it thinks you want to re-encode to a lower bitrate) So we patch the .mpg with a lower bitrate, even though the actual stream may have a higher bitrate. Works every time.
