Burn speeds between - and +

    I have a Lite-On 4x max DVD burner. Whenever I try to burn a DVD minus 4x or 8x disc, I can only choose to burn it at a painfully slow 1x speed. But when I try to burn a DVD plus, I usually have a choice between 2.4x and 4x. Is the the fact that I can't burn faster than 1x with the minus caused by a firmware issue?

    Firmware sounds horribly out of date, update it, then try again.
