Recently my burner doesn't see that there is a disk inserted. I'm using the same disks as always. Nero, Shrink & decrypter can all extract the files from a DVD but when it comes time to burn they all say "No disk inserted". Maybe once in 20 tries I can get it to work. Any ideas?

What's the make and model of the burner?

What brand of discs are you using - like Sony +R 16x?

I have an Optorite DVD RW DD0201. It came with my pc. I had tried several brands of DVD-R that wouldn't work, found that Sony 1x-16x would work so stuck with them. Now they won't work either. I'm wondering if the burner is "going" and should just replace it or if there is a "fix" out there I can try. Thank you for your time.

Yep I think you're burner is going - it's quite a bit on the old side - max burn speed of 4x. The last firmware update for it was in 2004 but I can't find any good links for it- looks like Optorite is no longer around.

So newer media like the 16x will be hit or miss at best.
You can try and fine 8x or lower media for this drive.
I think you best bet is buy a new burner like a Pioneer or LiteOn. So much cheaper now and handle the newer media.
