When I try to burn a DVD, sometimes the program gets stuck and freezes, usually at the beginning. For example, using Nero, it'll get stuck at 1% completion. Nero stops responding, so I need to forcibly quit. At this point, the DVD drive no longer responds to software, nor does the eject button work. I have to restart my system in order to try the burn again. I use both Nero and Alcohol and I'm having problems with both programs, so the problem probably lies with the drive or drivers? I'm using a NEC ND-3520A with the latest firmware and Windows XP with all the patches. I don't think it's a problem with the images I'm trying to burn. Most of the time, when I restart my system after a freeze up, it'll burn the image without a problem, at least until I get a freeze up again. I didn't have any problems until a couple days ago. I think the problem started when I installed several DVD player demoware to try them out. I've since uninstalled all of them, but I'm thinking maybe one of them screwed up my system? Any suggestions as to how I might fix this problem? Thanks!
try this program out to see if it cleans out the remains of the demo programs. can also do a system restore? http://www.ccleaner.com/
Thanks so much for telling me about ccleaner. What a great program. I burned a dozen DVD's today with any problems. I'm happy, and it feels nice to have all that junk cleaned off my computer too.
