burning a dvd

hi, i want to burn some of my video files to DVD using nero smart start, but the only options for vidoes are "make a video cd" "make a super video cd" and "make miniDVD" where is the option for DVD?

Don't you have to check 'DVD' in the little drop-down menu at the top of the Nero screen? That should change the 'page' and give you more options.
But as I'm a Newbie too I hope somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

 

iv'e tried that, and there isn't a drop down box for DVD!

 

Try this:

Run Nero StartSmart, click 'configure' at bottom, then check 'enable all recorder formats'.

cheers that bit worked, but how do i turn mpeg into those DVD file (Audio_TS, and VIDEO_TS)or can you just put the MPEG in the there and will convert by itself?

You have to use a DVD authoring program if you want good quality. I never let Nero convert my videos; the quality is always less than what I would expect for a $60-70 program. At the moment, I am trying out Divx to DVD converter, which is found free here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm I am actually converting a video as we speak
