I just got this computer 3 days ago. It's a Gateway. It says on the DVD player "DVD+ReWritable, DVD R/RW, Compact disc Rewritable ultra speed" ... It's a combo drive. On the sticker that describes the drive it says "Double-layer 16x Multi-Format DVD+/- RW Drive" I'm trying to burn a tv show that I recorded on to my hard drive. I'm trying to burn the DVD with Windows XP Media Center. The computer came with Nero express but I don't think that you can burn a DVD that can be viewed on a regular home dvd player. So far I've tried to burn the DVD 3 times and I keep getting "Create Failure. An error has occured in creating the CD/DVD" after 66% completion. I bought a pack of 50 DVD+R disks. I just saw on the pack of disks. It says "up to 12x" "Compatible with 12x Hardware" Since I have a 16x player does that mean that I can't use these disks?
lets start at the begining. When you transfered the files to your computer what format were they in? After you got them to your hard drive did you convert them to mpeg2 so that they are now in a compatible dvd movie format ready to be burnt to disc and ultimately be viewed in a standalone dvd player. 1.Can you download avicodec, run your file through it and post the results 2.Can you dowmload dvd identifier, run your disc through it while connected to the net and produce the data concerning the make of the discs. nero is a great application for burning converted files to disc so they can be played on your home dvd player we still dont know what the discs are but you wouldnt want to burn at such a high speed.Recommended speed is 4x.I know what your going to say 'its so slow' but unless your discs are that durable to handle the rotational spin and the increased heat that is given off all you really are going to get is a coaster.... Post me back the info and we'll have a look at your next step and maybe suggest some alternative programs to try. andmerr
I have a TV tuner card so, I recorded the tv show right off of the tv onto my hard drive. I can watch the program that I recorded on the computer but, I would like to burn the show onto a DVD.
can you right click the file and tell me what the file type is. Have you downloaded the other programs yet???????
