supposing I had a movie or two on my computer that was an .avi file. If it was too big to fit onto a cdr, how would I go about burning it onto a dvd? I usually use mac the ripper to backup, dvd2onex to compress, and toast to burn. I dont know how to make a file that is .avi format as a dvd. Say for example, if I had downloaded a movie in avi format that is awesome quality but say... 800mb. What can I do to get it onto a dvd? Someone help please.
Depending on if your machine has the proper codec.... You can use ffmpegx to convert it or you could use TOAST if it has the codec. This will take a llllllooooooonnnnnnnggggg time. Hope you have a fast machine.
i am having a problem, i can't get Toast or FFMpeg to properly encode AVI files for burning. Toast gets all the way through encoding, but then gives me an OS failure message. With FFMpeg, it says "improper input codec". what am i doing wrong?
This is the pain in the ass with avi's. AVI's are peecee format basically. Over the years there have been many "codeccs". (coded is short for "code/decode." You have to have the right codec installed in your machine. You have to do a get info in quicktime and that might show you what codec it is. Then you have to find it and hope theres a mac version or way you can install it in your system. Do searches here and on google for avi codecs and the like. Pain in the ass.
I don't have a problem playing the avi files on my G4 But how do I get them on a DVD so I can watch them on my DVD player?? Can anybody help me, please not TO technical????
