I try to burn avi's that are usually DVDrips like recently, beerfest and miami vice,it shows up in the nero video preview that the video is all distorted and on a angle, iv also tried dvdsanta and resulted with the same problem. This doens't happen on all videos and there is no apparent difference between ones that do work and the ones that won't

what encoder are you useing for your downloaded avi files? sounds like you aspect ratio is wrong, do you get this when you make a backup of a disk to disk copy?

I have anydvd, and i never have this problem with backing up dvds, its just on some videos, and i know that other have had no difficulties with the avi's, i was thinking it may be because of some kind of codec needed but i don't know what

Looks like a bad Cam to me, like it was shot from an angle.

Try ConvertXtoDVD and see how it goes.
