I made a back up copy of the movie Trnasformers last night with a Vertabim DVDr DL. Dvdshrinked it, then image burn -- clicked ok for error message in imageburn. When I load it in my dvd player it loads really slow. If it doesn't freeze in the process, which keeps happening, it will take me to the main menu and freeze there. I was able to get the movie to play once, did I burn it wrong maybe? This was my first dl burn btw.

Without describing the steps and programs you used no one can offer any real help.

    1. Using full backup mode in dvdsrhink I made an iso.
    2. Burned image with imageburn to dvdl at 2.4x speed, continued on through error message.
    3. Tested it out in a stand alone dvd player that always plays dvdrs fine

    Hi,

    1) what type of d/l are you using? Hope it is +r as to -r d/l has issues on a stand alone player.
2)Best to decrypt with something as DVDFabHDDecrypter and then make an iso file with Imgburn( note 2 set booktype to DVD-ROM for +R D/L ( this means use dvd+r d/l)and 2 use layerbreak calculator-- click best breakpoint)
    3) burn with Imgburn in the write mode

    Hope this helps

theres never a certainty that everything you burn on DL discs is always going to work. There is a possibilty that the actual disc you used is faulty so maybe trying a different brand of DL with the same project might be also a solution of sorts

The easiest way to make a backup copy on a Dl disk would be to rip in ISO mode with DVDFab Decrypter GET IT HERE Then just burn with any Burning sofware you have like ImgBurn GET IT HERE. I use Nero 8 myself but ImgBurn will work just fine. Try to make sure you burn as DVD-ROM if your burner is capable.

How can I check and see if my burner is burning as DVD-ROM? I followed your steps, made an iso with dvdfab, but I still get the same message when I try to burn with imageburn?

Sorry but I am unable to view your image? Can you just write here what message it is you are receiving?

    \\\\Message:

Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_01)

This image has not been modified correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc.

None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video specification' criteria for a potential layer break position.

Do you want to continue anyway?

    ////

I only run into this problem with DL DVD+r's. I'm using a Memorex DL 16x burner and Verbatim DVD+R DL disks. And when I continued anyway, I ran into the freezing disc problem mentioned in my first message.

Just wondering. Since this movie is only 143 minutes. Why not just copy the movie only to a 4.7GB DVD?

I believe it may just be the process you are using that is creating the problem here.
Why are you using DVD Shrink if you are burning to DL in the first place?
Just Rip the movie with DVDFab Decrypter in file mode (ignor what I said earlier) and then build and burn with Imgburn. Imgburn is better at handeling the layer break issue it looks like you are having.
What other proggies do you have? The reason I ask this is because for DL disks I always use AnyDVD and just do a copy disk with Nero and I have had 100% success rate with that method.
