My previous thread got off to a bad start. I'm trying again to explain my situation. My goal: backing up movies. Below is a list of my equiptment and programs installed. Vaio computer with a Pent 4 processor Sony DVD RW DRU-820A burner Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616E 1CLICK DVD Copy 5 DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 DVD Shrink Trial versions of: AnyDVD, CloneDVD2 , (both have 12 days left on trials) DVDFab Decrypter I only use (+) DL Verbatim blanks. I tried using the Clone2 program but couldn't find a way to slow the burn speed. It was on maximum and I ended up with a DVD that had no video and only intermittent garbled audio. I am so confused (and going broke) and end up throwing away most all of my tries*all of which are DL discs). I don't want to shrink etc. I would prefer to make exact copy backups. Res2cue had started helping me but my email issue got in the way. I would be happy to pay for any programs that I could actually back up a movie with. I'm not a geek but I'm not completely lost on the computer either. Someone please take pity and help me learn how to do this. I'm almost out of time with these trials. Thanking anyone and everyone in advance for the assistance.
To rip and burn your backups as DL or DVD9: (1) simply use the latest DVDFab Decrypter to rip the movie into your hard drive. (2) have ImgBurn to burn your VIDEO_TS folder Best of luck!!
did you try what i suggested in your other thread sassy? Don't see how you could fail trying what i suggested??
someone tell me if i'm wrong, but she must shrink in order to have a succesful back up disk. Why don'y you want to shrink?
SASSY123 Question: have you ever been able to burn anything in dvd on this burner? Is this burner new or 2 years old? The only reason I ask---one of my computers is a Sony vaio w/ an 820 burner. The burner went bad eventho Device Manager said it was working properly. Computer was 2 years old!
@seadale You don't need to transcode or compress (shrink) the movie if all you/she/he wanted is to burn/backup on a DL (DVD9) media. Yes, nearly 70% of members still prefer to transcode or shrink via DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or other engines. 20% of members go with DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.70 or ProCoder 2 (these 2 are encoders) and the last 10% are likely to burn their backups using DL (DVD9) media. @sassy123 Below is what I said and that should have covered what you're looking for. Other things to look out for when it comes to DVD burning: * firmware (make sure to update to the latest available) Firmware plays a very important role in regards to DVD burning, it enhances the burning process and media compatibility.
It WORKED!!!!!! Thanks to alkohol. Thank you so much. I used the two programs you told me to and IT WORKED !!!. Not only did it play, but I could navigate through the disc without a problem. Thank you all very much for the input. I have learned alot.

Hmmm... I'm trying to understand you here in regards to "facts"? You mean backing up using DL (DVD9) media? There's no such poll, but we're entitled to our own judgment from experiences that's all. DVDFab Decrypter = a ripper or decrypting engine from Fengtao. The main reason I recommended this to "sassy123" is simply because it is one of the best FREE ripper beside RipIt4Me. ImgBurn = the new improved and redesigned ISO (or Disc image) burning application from Lightning UK, the author behind DVD Decrypter. The best of all is that, it's totally FREE and yes, it is definitely one of the best "ISO" and "VIDEO_TS" burning application. @paztelu Oh.. OK I got you now, LOL!! Hmmm... now that's definitely a tough question to answer. Well, let's say when I answered "seadale" I did a quick calculated pertaining to members via this forum (AD) and others in regards to DVD burning and backups. To make a long story short, there are far more members (including newbies) still prefer to shrink or transcode via DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or other transcoders (engines). Then there are some of those (the few real DVD backup-holic) that preferred "quality" and use DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP or ProCoder 2 (again, these 2 are encoders). Perhaps, the few that owned any 50" or higher HDTV. And finally, there are those that doesn't want to transcode/encode at all and prefer to go with DL media (DVD+R DL or DVD9) without losing any quality.
