What software are you using to burn the movie?

I use a combonation of software. Most of the time I use AnyDVD and DVD Shrink. Sometimes you need programs such as VobBlanker or PgcEdit. Does your movie play on another DVD player?

I will go ahead and admit that it has happened to me a couple of times too. Just cold boot, and if that doesn't work eject then replace it in the drive.

I had two movies that did it to me. I ended up making new copies and it hasn't happened since. The two movies that were doing this were burned with Roxio Adabtec Software.

I just know that you don't need a chip to watch the movies unless they are in a different region code.

one of my friends suggested that the reason the xbox can't read it is because i use the double layer burn option. could that be the cause?

That could very well be the case. I burned a DVD-9 one time and it wouldn't play. I guess the machine doesn't recognize it. Try the movie again burned to a DVD-5.

    Good luck

You may want to try a different brand of media too. Some players are picky about dvd-r media, i.e. hp will work, phillips won't that kinda thing is still an issue sometimes.
