Can one use an external DVD burner with a new ibook without having to buy some expensive additional software? The gentleman at the Mac store said that I "need" to buy the 14" ibook with the superdrive because using an external DVD burner would require DVD PRO(?), as the built in DVD burner software wouldn't work. True/False? I would likely only be making short films using imovie and then burning them to DVD. I would love to be able to purchase the 12" and then add an external DVD burner as it would be cheaper, I think. The savings would be eliminated if expensive additional software needs to be purchased. Am I being subjected to a rather dogmatic interpretation of the requirements to facilitate a sale? Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.
What you were told is true but you can work around it. http://homepage.mac.com/geerlingguy/mac_support/mac_help/pages/15-burn_idvd_other.html
