I keep trying to burn a movie, but all of a sudden its not working, i know how to do them, they have all worked in the past. all though my burner doesnt read every dvd anymore..i havent had problems burning anything. Hi tuproc Here are some suggestions. 1st let's edit out the serial # -begins w/ 1A in this line: [20:25:13] DVDEngine 1A Don't need someone else getting it. BAO activated Turn off Burn at Once. Better to save temporarily to the hard drive then burn. This option is under 'recorder settings'. Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AM3 Not the best by far. Better to use would be Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, made in Japan Sony or Fuji (usually made by Taiyo) or made in Japan Maxell. Burn process failed at 16x For these discs take it down to 8x or even 4x. Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS' & 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS': These 2 drivers can cause conflicts. Roxio and Nero don't always play well together. Unisntall Roxio and run the zap tool to clear it out. Your drives firmware is up to date so might be iffy media if these are backups. If originals which dvd's? Lens may be dusty too so might want to blow some canned air in the drive or use a DVD lens cleaner. Give those a go and let us know.
thanx for the edit, the dvds that it didnt read were originals, it could read the dvds maybe 1 out of 20 times i put it in, but not necessarily read them, but detect them, because once the program was installed, it read them fine everytime. I didnt even notice i had roxio installed... now the dvds that wouldnt burn were actually dvd-r made by memorex, which is why im surprised that a memorex burner wouldnt notice a memorex dvd-r. The +r seems to work ok.
Well Memorex user's different manufacturers - they don't make the disc themselves - just like most of their drives. Just put their name on them. The +R Memerox could be from a different better manufacturer - reason they work and these don't. Check and see if you have something like 'drag to disc' (I always forget Roxio's packet writing software name!) in add/remove programs. This Roxio driver is also installed with another program - WinMap maybe but a quick google I couldn't find the correct one. Give the suggestions a go and let us know.
i dont see winmap or drag and drop or anything like that on my add/remove.. i got the burner working but only with dvd+r. And i thought the -R was supposed to be more compatible with drives..oh well
Check and see who manufactured those +R - that may be the difference in why they are working and not the -R's. Pop a blank in the drive then go to NeroToolKit>Info Tool>disc tab - it will give you the manufacturer info. The -R's you were using were made by CMC - not great w/ most drives.
