Hi ya Linn, welcome to aD,

Although I don't see right off where the error is in your first log - I do see a “Power Calibration Error” in the second log. A “Power Calibration Error” can be attributed to the Optical Components of a DVD Writer. It is also attributed to the use of a poor quality media.

    Two questions arise -

First, Can you burn anything at all with your burners i.e., CD's of any nature OR DVD data files ?

Second, What media are you using ?

What exactly what were you trying to burn when the trouble ocurred ?

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Thankyou!
yes I can burn DVD's with Stomp Recordnow max. What I have been doing the last couple of days is backing up as a DVD format using DVD shrink then using STOMP to put those 2 files onto DVD. It is actually faster. this way but where I was able to do the encoding and writing at the same time. It crashes (coaster time) and this does this on any movie or region. I have been using Compusa DVD's but have switched to Sony DVD's. This is also copying from DVD to DVD or file to DVD (DVD incriptor).

I hope this helps you some in resolving my problams.

    p.s.

I reloaded an order verson of NERO, and still having the same problam. Will try maybe tomarou to over write it with the latest NERO.

    Any suggestions, let me know.

    Linn

    Thanks again

    Linn,

We're lucky enough to have a "Ahead" representive here at aD, I'll send him a note and see if he can stop by and have a look at your log.

Meanwhile, do what you're doing and we'll try to get Nero going when he has some free time - remember, he has a full time job and he'll get here when he can -

    Pete

That first log file I've never seen before. But unless you cut out quite a lot of content, it would leave me to believe that our software failed to install properly, was corrupted by the installation of another software. The reason I say this is that it never even get's to the polling of the recorder or the settings.

I would very highly recommend using the Nero Clean tool to uninstall our software from your system, and then install Nero 6.6.0.3 and NVE 3.0.1.14 and see if this resolves your issue, or at least provides a better log file to help diagnose the problem.

    Hey LINN,

Now that you're doing well, that doesn't mean it's time for you to up and Ski-dattle - this is a give and take kind of a deal - we had fun helping you, now, the next time, you get to have some fun yourself :)

It's people like you who make this site work - You've seen how we work and you've seen that we had fun doing it - Now it's your turn, stop back when you're free and help someone else - You'll have fun and, a chance to learn some more, (teaching is a learning experience too you know) the people you help will appreciate it and it will make you feel better :)

Then you'll have a chance to "Welcome" them into our little Club :D

Take a few minutes and check out our opening page. We've got a ton"O"stuff here at aD – Checkout other forums, we have the "Safety Valve" a forum about anything – from "What's bugging you," "Where members come from" OR the best joke you've heard – OR, check out our forums on Digital Camcorders, Photography, Home Theater components, Games, p2p topics or even Cellular phones.

We hope to see you around when you're NOT having problems to solve -

You'll find us hanging out, over there by the water cooler, under the potted palm, chewing the fat and trying to help the next Newbie with the weight of the burning world upon their shoulders -

We'll be lQQking for you -

    Sea ya soon,

    Pete :b)

tried the above solution but is no good perhaps im doing somthing wrong, please help. i recently changed my dvd writer but i think it stopped working before that hard to tell cause the coincided with each other.

p.s usually burns a lot faster than 2.4x

    mutlie,

A "Power Calibration Error" can be attributed to the Optical Components of a DVD Writer. Translation: The laser can be dirty, out of alignment etc. Using crappy discs can also cause a "Power Calibration Error".

Solution: 1. Change discs (use a better quality).
    2. Use a lens-cleaning disc (available at any computer store)
    3. Hook the drive up to a different PC to ascertain if it functions. If it doesn't function there - either send out for repair OR replace with a new drive.

Since it is a NEC burner - I would recommend that you replacement it (if necessary) should the other solution suggestions fail - with a new drive as that NEC drive (mine too) suck big time. Get a burner that is truly a dual format, not one that claims to be a dual format but only burns +R media.

    Cheers,

    Pete :)
