I hope this is the right forum to ask this in. I'm currently using ATI Multimedia Center with an HDTV Wonder card to get DTV video. I recorded the BCS Championship game the other day and would like to burn it to a disk to save it for later. I've used the help feature in the MMC software but it doesn't have the option to burn to a dvd. Does anyone know how I can do this? I've got Nero to use as my main burning program. If I need to download something else I can. I've tried creating the playlist and exporting that to the desktop, but all it does is copy over the actualy playlist, not the entire file.
Can you tell me what the extension is on the file? Example, .mpg, .avi, etc. Tell me this and I can probably help you burn it.
Well that's the thing, the file is apparently in the playlist of MMC. I didn't go into the PVR part of the software to record it. If I bring up the library, I can see 30 minute chuncks of the game. When I transfer the file down to the playlist, and then export it to my desktop, it will show as an .m3u file. But when I double click on the file to play it, it will play the entire 30 minute block. Does that help you? I can post pictures to give you a better understanding of what I am talking about if I need to.
This time, with pics!! Or at least links to pics since I can't get the code correct. Ok, When I had this running I clicked on the "record" option in MMC. I did not go into the settings to select the quality, etc. In the playlist, you can see the incremental files that it recorded. http://img261.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snap38fa.jpg Here you can see the properties of the file. http://img259.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snap18vp.jpg The option I chose from this is "Add to Playlist". Export does the same thing as below. http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snap27sr.jpg Once it is in the playlist these are the options I have. I choose "Export Playlist". http://img251.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snap32db.jpg Once it's been exported onto my desktop this is the only drop down option I have. http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snap41kk.jpg When I click on the properties of the file this is what I see. http://img221.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snap56qs.jpg If I could get that file into an mpeg or avi format I could burn it. My problem is getting it into that format.
I couldnt find anything on the net about the Tv-On-Demand file. And in my version of ATI MMC it has a option in the right click menu to "Export as MPEG-2" but apparently they have removed that feature. But here is my idea. Possible that file that you can only save as a .m3u playlist isnt actually your recording? Maybe its just a file telling ATI MMC were it stored the file? If this is the case and you could hunt down the file I'm sure we could find a way to convert it to a better format.
I've tried to find where that m3u file is pointing to but I can't find it. I posted just in case someone else happened to know, since I know there is more circumventing the process here than I would be told from ATI. I'll see if ATI can answer that question. In the meantime if anyone else knows please post.
Well sorry I couldn't be of more help, hope ATI gives ya a hand. Also so you dont have this issue in the future change the format you record to as .avi or.mpg or something of the such.
