burning home video to dvd (formats)

    i made a home video of snowboarding and other stuff. i tried putting it on a dvd-r so that i can watch it on my dvd player. i don't know what format to put it in that the dvd player recognizes. so if there is help out there please feel free to help me. thanks a lot

    More info required please - what software did you use, etc, etc.

    Yeah, a lot more info. Did you use a digital or analogue camera? Did you capture it on a graphics capture board and is it converted to avi format. Did you then convert the avi to Mpeg2 format using TMPGEnc? Did you then convert the mpeg3 format to VOB (DVD) format using TMPGEnc DVD Author? Did you then burn the outputted VIDEO_TS folder from TMPGEnc DVD Author to DVD using Nero DVD ROM UDF/ISO option?

    If not, go do all that ;-D

    what is the tmpgenc dvd author? i have tmpgenc but how do i use the "dvd author" to turn avi to .vob?
