I'm running Windows XP and recently reformatted my system to get a clean start. However, now I can not burn DVD or CD's. I have tried a few different versions of Nero to no luck. Here is the error log. Can anyone help? It's driving me mad, I'm just trying to backup a couple files. All my hardware and software is the same as before. Try updating your Nero from here 6.6.1.15 http://www.filehippo.com/download/7717bb2aa35a8a6b405b8322e5dfe50b/download/ In my opinion, these are not top quality discs...try slowing your burn to 32X I cant advise on your firmware at the moment my source is unavailable. I will check this error out and reply asap. EDIT: Heres something I found on the error
I would like to add to the list of tasks/advice that Gwendolin gave you: Your burner's lenses could be dirty; get a can of compressed air for electronics and blow off any possible junk- cigarette smoke, dust... Also, here is a link to something you might want to try also. I found that "fix" in several forums, it seems to work for many people that have the "power calibration" stinker: http://www.gidforums.com/t-1805.html
I updated the firmware cleaned it with some air, and made the adjustment from that last poster. I tried burning on a Verbatim DVD and got the following error log. Do you have another pc you can try this drive in? Did you check out that link cyprusrom linked to about imapi?
No other PC, and yes I tried his recommendation. I'm leaning to either it has gone bad or the cables are bad. I ran Sony's test and it failed and generated an error report I emailed to them.
It may just be on the way out like you said. If you did have another pc handy that would be another way to tell. You might want to try just have the dvd burner hooked up - disconnect the the DVD Rom and see if that makes a diff. You best bet may be just to replace it.
