I'm a newbie with DVD burning and am having problems. I just got a sony drx-500ul drive.
dvd+rw burn and play fine with good quality in both my pc and pioneer dv-525 but when I burn to dvd+r using sonic mydvd wich came with the drive the dvd+r's burn and play but the quality sucks. I also tried creating and burning with Ulead's dvd factory and again dvd+rw burn and play fine with good quality. dvd+r's burn but don't finalize. These disc's don't play in anything so I tried EZcreator's direct cd to see if i could repair and use some of the leftover disc space. Well it worked and after using diredt cd to repair they also played in all the drives and my standalone player. Files burned by direct cd played only in the dvd-rw drive but all other drives played the dvd movie.

My question is this, am I doing something wrong because this is too long of a process to burn a disc or is the software (that I got with the drive and capture card) just crappy.

    My computer has:
    1.8 Ghz p4
two 80 gig hdrives 7200 rpm
    256 rdram
    Fuji dvd+r
    Verbatim dvd+r

any suggestion would be greatly appriciated.

Go to www.vcdhelp.com and click on "HOW TO COPY ANY DVD TO ONE RECORABLE DVD" You will find it list on the left side of the page. Do just as it say in the article and you will have prefect copies. I was a newbie at this and found this site. I did just as it said and make great copies in about 1 1/2hrs. Check them out for all you VCD-SVCD-DVD questions. Have fun

Thanks for your suggestion but I guess I wasn't clear (sorry) in my previous post. The movie is from my sony TRV-110 camera and I capture to dv-avi and I get great captures and no dropped frames. Will DVD decrypter also convert/burn these type of files. I think I'm having problems with mydvd doing crappy covertions to mpeg2 and Ulead is not filanizing the discs.
