Hey there folks. Need a little assistance, if you'd be so kind. I'm almost at my wit's end here. Been ripping and burning for a few years now without so much as a hiccup with programs such as Clone DVD 2, Any DVD, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter & DVD Fab Platinum. Well, all of a sudden I keep getting error messages each and every time it starts to write. With Clone DVD 2 I keep getting the message "media write error, possibly caused by a bad medium". So I try all types of different media and get the same message with each. And to make matters worse, I get error messages with EVERY program I try including DVD Shrink and DVD Fab Platinum. I've ran into this before but it never lasted long, which leads me to believe something here is afoul. Burning CDs is never a problem but movies that I've burned before without issue are now giving me... well, issue! Anyhow, my burner is a Pioneer DVR-105 (Windows), which I've already updated my firmware with. At this point I'm thinking I might just have to invest in another DVD burner but I'm hoping there's another solution. Any help would be mucho appreciated! THX!
Thanks for the prompt reply. Here goes: DVD Clone 2 says: WriteDVD 10 11 W2 (not sure if that's helpful) DVD Shrink says: 1C82-0000-19E5-MAAX-4001-0630-**** Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 12:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero API version: 7.7.5.1 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 7, 7, 5, 1 Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105> Version: 1.33 - HA 1 TA 1 - 7.7.5.1 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2000kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST3120022A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : JLMS XJ-HD166S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : MagicISOVirtual DVD-ROM 1.0A mcdbus Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : MagicISOVirtual DVD-ROM 1.0A mcdbus Port 2 ID 1 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM G: CDRom2 MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM H: CDRom3 JLMS XJ-HD166S I: CDRom0 PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105 J: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1022MB (1047276kB) Free physical memory: 529MB (541788kB) Memory in use : 48 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 10.10.2007 NeroAPI 12:21:12 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 285 DVD-Video files reallocation started 12:21:13 PM #2 DVDREALLOC -21 File DVDVideoCompilation.cpp, Line 1309 Required file 'VTS_02_0.VOB' is not present 12:21:13 PM #3 Phase 115 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 285 DVD-Video files reallocation failed 12:21:13 PM #4 Text 0 File NeroAPIBurnFS.cpp, Line 218 Failed to realloc DVD video files Existing drivers: File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=7.5.0.47 , size=24960 bytes, created 3/8/2005 9:08:42 PM File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.03.28a, size=20640 bytes, created 2/1/2005 2:03:00 AM (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K) Registry Keys: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option) Hope this helps in some way. Looks like all the copy protection hasn't been removed or cleaned up. Use FixVTS to further scrub your source files and try again. This is Roxio's packet writing software that is known to create conflicts with other burning software. I would suggest removing it using Roxiozap.
Well, looks like the removal with Roxiozap did the trick for the time being. Thanks for all of your help. I'll be sure to keep posting if I run into any more trouble. Thanks again!
Here we go again! Tried burning a couple of movies recently and am now receiving "power calibration errors" instead of "possibly caused by bad medium." I'm thinking my burner is on its last legs but am curious if it's something else. I've posted the log DVD shrink gave me the last time I attempted a burn. 1C82-0000-19E5-MAAX-4001-0630-**** Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 12:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero API version: 7.7.5.1 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 7, 7, 5, 1 Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105> Version: 1.33 - HA 1 TA 1 - 7.7.5.1 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2000kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST3120022A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : JLMS XJ-HD166S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === JLMS XJ-HD166S I: CDRom0 PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105 J: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1022MB (1047276kB) Free physical memory: 349MB (358200kB) Memory in use : 65 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 14.10.2007 NeroAPI 2:15:02 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 285 DVD-Video files reallocation started 2:15:02 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 285 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 2:15:02 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 285 DVD-Video files sorted 2:15:02 PM #4 Text 0 File SCSIPTICommands.cpp, Line 411 LockMCN - completed sucessfully for IOCTL_STORAGE_MCN_CONTROL 2:15:02 PM #5 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 838 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 2:15:02 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3334 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 2:15:02 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3334 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 2:15:02 PM #8 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3465 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 2:15:03 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 306 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2286175 (508:02.25, 4465MB) 2:15:03 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 318 Write in overburning mode: NO 2:15:03 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2912 Recorder: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: RITEKF - 1 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 2:15:03 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 490 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 2:15:03 PM #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 823 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2286176 (2286176) = #2286176/508:2.26 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2286176 blocks [J: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105] -------------------------------------------------------------- 2:15:03 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1026 Prepare [J: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; The Ritek discs require a lot of laser power because of the dye they use. Your Pioneer is an older model that was superb in its time, but may not have enough power for the new 16X Ritek discs, particularly since a laser diode loses power as it ages. You can always keep the Pioneer as a "DVD-ROM" drive and move up to a newer drive for better success.
