After my DVD's of burning ISO's get to about 50 percent. The burner stops and states "An error has a occured, check the log file for more information". Also, when its getting ready to burn it will power up fast, then slow down, fast, slow down. For about 10 times. Then it will start burning normally at a constant rate. What is up with this?

in device manager under ide controllers, look at the properties under primary & secondary controllers for dma. to see what ide port & jumper set as than need to open the computer to look on the inside to see where the wide data cable goes from the drive to the motherboard. on the back of each rom drive is a jumper located between the audiocable & the ide data cable. that jumper might be blue, black or white & sometimes red. if the jumper is on the middle 2 pins of the six than it is set as slave. if on the 2 pins closest to the ide data cable than jumpered as master. if on the 2 pins closest to the audio cable than set as cable select. you can only have 1 master & 1 slave per cable whereas can have 2 cable select per cable. try to setup as 1 master & 1 slave.
