Recently, I've being having a few problems burning .avi files to DVD. I'm currently using Nero 7 ultra edition to convert and burn the files. The resulting DVD's play fine for the first 50 - 60 minutes and then begin to skip or stop altogether. I've tried converting the files using WinAvi but when I tried to burn them using Nero I got an error message. Has anyone else had similar problems or can offer some guidance? Many thanks.
If I convert and burn in Nero i don't get any errors. Everything is fine until I play the DVD then it stops around 50 - 60 mins in to the film. I've just tried to burn the file I converted using WinAvi to see what the error message was and BLOODY HELL!! it's burnt without any errors. I tried it twice yesterday and it failed at 6% both times! I'll see if it plays then get back to you.
Worked fine upuntil 2hours in to the film then it began to skip. Could this be a problem with the DVD writer?
What brand of media are you using? What speed are you burning at? What is the burners make, model and firmware? Edit you can look here to find how you get the model numebr and firmware http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/488628#2952884
300bowler is right, this sounds like a common burning problem rather than encoding. As the AD motto goes use good media and burn at half the max burning rate stated for the media. Also make sure that DMA is enabled for your drive.
