I posted in another forum and was recommended to come here.

I have used DVD Shrink and Decrypter about 100 times over a year ago with few error messages. However, when watching the movies later, many of them froze at random places during the movie - making the copy useless. Probably about 30% of my discs have this problem. I use TY discs at 4x burn speed.

After getting an error message (forgot to write it down before closing the program) when trying to copy Goblet of Fire, I posted for suggestions on perhaps any better programs to use. I was told to try DVDFab Decrypter, Shrink, FixVTS, and Imageburn. I have tried to copy 3 movies this way and have experienced various error messages on each attempt. Here are some examples:

    I/O error scsistatus 0x02
    Interpretation: check condition
    read (I/O) - sector 247968
    unrecovered read error

    and

Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (0/2) - Write Error
Synchronise Cache Failed! - Reason: Write Error

I have Nero7 on my computer but have never tried using it for backing up movies. I gave up trying over a year ago after making many coasters. What I am looking for is any recommendations on programs I can use that will give me better results - hopefully there have been improvements over the last year or more.

    Thank you. :)

You have all good programs there to back up dvd's.
    Using good media too.

So let's check the burner - what's the name and model - firmware up to date? You can find which firmware version you have in Nero.
Go to Tools>InfoTools. Pick the burner in the drop down. In the drive tab they'll be a filed there for the version.

Doing any multitasking while burning? If you are may want to stop.

Keeping up on the pc manintenance too like disc defrag, disc cleanup, registry cleaner, virus scans and cleaning out the dust inside the pc?
Might want to blow some canned air in the burner to cleans the lens too.
