Using a Memorex dvd+/- dl burner and nero to burn dvd-video files. Problem occurs when the burner process quits randomly sometimes at 12% and sometimes at 62% but continues to think it is working. I get no error prompt or anything always have to abort then i have coasters. Out of the last 100 pack of DVD+R disc 17 of them have been ruined. Not the media happens on all kinds and not the burner because I had replaced it and problem still happens.

Sounds like the problem I had when burning with DVD Decrypter but I had an error message of "Power calibration Error".
Having read up on this error, there were many possibilities such as media quality, PSU supply, burner firware updates and cleaning the burner laser.
My problem was resolved by cleaning the laser, dedicating one power connector from the PSU to the burner and letting other stuff share via splitters if necessary. I also replaced a very old secondary channel IDE cable I had borrowed from an old machine for my new one.
Ruling out the things you are confident are not the problem I would consider a better power supply. Google "Power calibration error" and see what you think.

I have the same burner, well probably not the exact same model, but it is a memorex 16x dl burner. I never use memo media, but the burner is excellent. I had a few problems at first. My remedies to fix that were
-upgrading the firmware from the site
    -using clonedvd and anydvd
Anyway I haven't had a single problem since then. Sounds like it must be some sort of software issue. Anyway hopes that helps.
