Hi I'm just wondering if it's possible to burn say .exe programmes to cd-r ? I have some programmes on my pc that I want to bring with me when I go away for awhile. For instance I purchased some dvd burning tools some time back and was wondering if it was possible to burn .exe progs to cd-r ? Also is it possible to send programmes that are compressed into .rar via email ? I sent myself a programme which I compressed with winrar just to see if I could receive it, the email sent but I never received it back with the file ? can anybody shed some light on these things? Thanx in advance.
Hey sandisk, long time no see. Yeah you can put anything on a cd - just make a data cd using nero.. And yes, you can send .rar files via email. The sending could have failed for many reasons - how big is the file you are trying to send? Lethal
Hey lethal, I see your of the senior calibre these days, it's been awhile since I've been around. I've learned a helluva lot from afterdawn and just want to expand on it really. Yeah I'll have a look into nero for the burning programmes, thanx. Yeah the size of the file I was tryin to send was 513,024 would that be right? It says that under size when I open the .rar file. Sayin that I'll prob want to send much bigger ones than that. I'm sendin it thru my outlook express. Any thoughts on this ? Thanx.
Erm, that's a 500mb file and not many people have 500+mb space in their email inbox - even you, hence the reason that it failed. What type of file is it? could it be split up and sent in a few different parts so the recipient can store them on the HDD before the next one comes along? Post back if u get stuck. Lethal
Lol, I see, so that's the prob. That file was actually a snes emulator and the .exe is actually that size and then you have the docs to go with them so it's prob askin a bit much lol. I thought with the winrar it compressed everything so I could email it but never mind. With regards to the burning of the programme thing, thanks alot, it really is quite simple with nero "data cd", not only did it copy the .exe but also the read me files that go with it.
