Hi. I came across a movie that is in .mkv format and it is not hard subbed. I was wondering if anyone knew how to hardsub .mkv or just burn the subs along with the video (I can't figure out how to burn .mkv either..)

I don't know about the subs but to burn to dvd you need to convert it to avi or such...

To burn to DVD you don't need to convert at all and if it has subs before burning, they will still be there afterwards. To convert to DVD video means MPEG-2/AC3/LPCM. You can't author a DVD with avi.

You can extract the subtitles with mkvextract.

Specificly, use mkvextract, encode the video, and add the subs with your author.
