Hi I'm a newbie at this game. I have a NEC 1100 DVD-RW, and have Nero 6, and Roxio easy CD creator. I copied a movie to the DVD but it would only play on my pc and not on the dvd player. I have read similar threads which refer to exotics like VOB files. What are they? how do I create them? How can I burn my MPEG and avi files to DVD so that I can watch it on my TV via the dvd player? It all seesm so complicated. Is there an easy foolproof way of doing this? Thanks
Yep, have a look at the guides section here at afterdawn..... A link to help you on your way - http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/
I take it from your post you aint decoded the dvd yet. I recommend a user friendly tool called dvdshrink http://www.dvdshrink.com/download.htm and hey it's free! Use dvdshrink to rip and compress the movie on to your hard disk then use nero to burn it on to the new dvd. Also remember some older dvd players don't like dvd-r's check out this compatibility list http://www.videoequipment.com/access/dvd.html.
Hi Lewell thanks but I dont think this software lets me burn existing avi and mpeg files to dvd. Regards
DVDSHRINK and NERO 5.5, works almost everytime. I say almost because I've just burned a + and a - disk both work on my stand alone but neither plays on my computer. This was disk one of a four disk set, all the others play everywhere. Any ideas?????????
C'mon guys can you give me specifics, how do I copy mpeg, avi and div to dvd. Shouldnt this be a well trodded path?
pparker Pinnacle, Ulead and others have trial versions available on their sites that will edit and get your avi files ready for a burner like Nero. Even Nero has a trial version. You have to find some of the guides available on this site and use them. You don't want me coming to your house for a guided tour, you can't afford to keep my beer mug full.
