    Hello,

I am a complete computer novice and I am desperately looking for help copying a WMV file to a blank DVD.

I have been told that all I have to do is drag the WMV file, I want to copy to disc, and drop it into my DVD drive.

When I try to do this I get this message on my screen:

    Problem Copying.

Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file.
What do you want windows to do?

    Ross Allan showreel
    Type: Windows media Audio/Video file
    duration:00:04:51
    Bit rate:1140kbps
    dimensions:720 x 576
    protected: No
    Size: 37.4MB

....and it asks to 'retry' or 'cancel'

My Driver is a sony DVD RW DW-D56A. I have been trying blank DVD+R discs and DVD-R discs.

How do I sort this problem?? Help me please...its very frustrating.

Thank you so so much in advance.

    Ross

XP (and I don't know about Vista) cannot burn to DVD disks - it requires a third party burning program.
If you simply wish to burn the file as data to the DVD disk, ImgBurn can be used.

As an aside, as a general rume - you cannot play this WMV file back on a standalone DVD player (only DVD movie format or in some cases, DivX files are acceptable).

    Hi,

    Thanks for that information!

I have windows XP so it looks like I do need a third party program

I am looking to copy a WMV file which is a 5 minute video clip.

What third party program to use you suggest I use??

    Thanks

As I mentioned previously - ImgBurn - just click on the name to go to the download.
