I have written before and hopefully this will be the last time, so I can make my donation. I ripped two movies, one took almost 4 hrs and then burned it to a dvd+r. At the very end, I got an error message relating to the aspi layer. I clicked retry and it worked. It took about 16 minutes to burn. The second movie was a 5 hr rip and a 20 minute burn, but again, at the end of burning, I got the same message. I was able to play both movies back on my computer, but not on my stand alone dvd player. HP had given me a list of compatible dvd players for dvd+r. I went to the store 3 different times and purchased and returned 3 different dvd players. On the fourth try, I took the movies with me and the guy tried every dvd player in the store and none would play. So my guess is that the message I got at the end of the burn has something to do with the dvds not playing. Can someone help me out? Thank you
what kind of CD's are u usin? cause if u are usin dvd-r i dunno, but if u are usin like cd-r those generally don't work even though my dvd player can do vcd's it only recognized it with a cd-rw disk, dunno why though. might wanna give it a try.
Elayne: How did you author and/or burn the movies? And CRAZYmack: Like the forum title says, this is _DVD-/+R(W)_ forum, not anything to do with CDs.
I used dvd decrypter using iso. It read everything. Used dvd decrypter to burn with nero. Everything burned except that error message at the very end dealing with aspi. I clicked on retry and in a second, a box popped up saying that the dvd was successful. I was at another store today testing the different dvd players and none would read the dvd+r. I just can't figure out why.
I am so sorry for being such a bother. I just can't understand why I can't get this right. I have read all the posts in the messages boards and printed alot of them out.Would using ifo instead of iso be better? Also, the was an extra file "mds" I think it was called besides the main file. Would that have something to do with the burning error at the end of the burning?
This is just one of "those things" that really need to be analyzed throughout -- this kinda problems occur every now and then. I've personally spent last 5 days trying to investigate why two of my four logical hard drive partitions perform appx. 25x slower than rest of the drives. Absolutely no idea so far But back to your issue -- .md5 is an error check file and doesn't have anything to do with your problem. It is used, if you -- for example -- decide to upload the DVD image via Net to some of your friends. Then he/she can run an md5 check against the image file using .md5 file and analyze if the transfer was completed without errors.
I just can't thank you enough for your time. I'm going to try a different aspi for burning. Do I have to get rid of the other one, nero? I read in one article that 'iso' is used only for 'nt' and nothing else, is this right?
Have you tried to burn the ripped .iso with DVD Decrypter itself? And how big is the .iso you got out of the DVD you ripped?
Yes, that is what I did on 3 or 4 dvds. After ripping the dvd to the hdd, I then got it back to dvd decrypter to burn them. They ranged from 15 to 22 minutes each to burn. Each dvd is under 4g. As I said, they all play back on my computer but not on any stand alone player. I must have tried 100 different dvd players. Today, I ripped one of the dvds using ifo. I am not trying to edit or anything. Now, at this point, I have to find what program to use to burn. I went to use dvd decrypter but it won't let me get the files. The first time I tried to burn a dvd, it burn a copy of the files, but no movie. When I went to play it on power dvd, it showed me the files. I know that this isn't really hard to do, I'm just missing something. Thank you again. You have really been so sweet. Now, back to the forum for more reading.
If they play back on your computer just fine (you open WinDVD or PowerDVD and the menu structure, etc is fine), then the issue is (most likely) not with your burning, but with the media you use. DVD players can be extremely picky of the brands that they approve.
Does that mean that I should use a different brand of dvd+r. I just purchased some memorex instead of HP. This has gotten me so confused. I also noticed that most of the time when I open dvd decrypter, my computer reboots and I have to start all over again. Something with minidump and BBCode. I also downloaded frcaspi. Having both nero and frcaspi won't hurt will it. Tonight, I will try to ripp another dvd in 'iso' and burn it. Yesterday when I ripped one in ifo, I can't bring the files to the burner. Now I am on a mission to do this. Thank you.
Don't get too frustrated. I came upon the DVD "backup world" about 2 months ago. First was the DVD2SVCD program. It took me almost a month to figure DVD out. My preferred method is ifo. I bought a "Pioneer-104" about a month ago. Don't let anybody fool you into thinking this stuff is easy.....yeah, it's easy after you figure it out! Jim
Hi dRD, Well, I think I'm going give up for awhile on this. Most of the time when I would open up dvd decrtpter, my computer would crash. Can't find burning software to burn on dvd+r. But since you have really tried to help, I will still donate the $20 I said I would. It will be sent under the name of Linda Brown. But please, if you remember and if you can find any answers for me, please let me know. Thank you again.
Thanks for the donation. And obviously I'll (as well as the rest of the guys) will try to help you as much as possible. Currently I don't have a DVD burner on my own, so I can't test things very well to get you anything useful other than the stuff that we've tried already But as tumbar said -- long process and once you get it working, it will be piece of cake from then.
Has anyone been able to burn a dvd+r and got it to play on a stand alone dvd player? I was just told that dvd+r is a new format and most software has to catch up to support it. I do hope that most people donate to your site because you do offer a lot of help and people who have problems need you and should support you.
Well, I'm at it again. I tried Smart Ripper and Clad and they don't work. So I'm back using the best. I ripped a dvd using iso. The dvd was Peter Pan. It is 4,382,936kb. Okay, before I burn this baby, is there anything extra I should do. Any other program I should use. I will be burning this to a dvd+rw using an HP200i burner. I was wondering, can I still edit these files to get rid of the warnings or just leave it alone? Thanks
Elayne, Going to try my best to get you going w/o too many coasters added to your collection. Have you tried DVD Shrink ?? It's free, will rip your movies in generally 30 to 40 minutes. It allows you to compress your larger DVD's to the necessary 4.36GB keep in or remove menus and trailers and provides you with a nice neat VIDEO_TS folder for you to have Nero burn for you. Take a second and stop by here - http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/dvd_shrink.htm A powerful program, easy to use - Enjoy, "P"
Hi Elayne, on your question about dvd+r. Thats all I use. Burn with a Hp 200j drive using DVD Shrink to decyrpt and burn back with Nero 6. They play fine on my Sony stand alone. I also use DVD X copy Express and am tesing CloneDVD right now to see how well it works. When I started I always burned to a DVD+RW 1st as a test. That way you don't have a drawer of coasters. If my DVD+RW worked, I would then use any disc copy program to put it on a Blank DVD+R. Don't be afraid to keep asking for help. Someone here will know the answer. Jerry
Jerry, You'll like CloneDVD, it's even fun to watch - only drawback, you can't run 2 burners at the same time. "P"
Hi Pete, I was just on another thread talking about Clonedvd. It's a great program but I think the cost is just a little high at $40. each including anydvd. X copy express is down to $29-$39. Shrink is free. $80. for Clone and Any dvd. They should have a lower package price for both. But it does work well and allows menues to work too after edits. Jerry
