hi i would like to know how to bypass my college's firewall not to go on blocked websties but to download. I want to download flash and vlc media player but the firewall wont let me download i know a way around blocked websties but not downloading does anyone know how to do this?
typically, things are blocked for a reason. if your college is dead set again you getting to certain sites, unless you know your way around proxies, you're a bit screwed. just to get those players, try using a proxy site. just be sure to not run anything important or private through one.
All pretty much the same. They have instructions for setting up a connection. http://www.topproxysites.com/ http://www.proxyblind.org/ And as Aus said.. Be aware of what information you are passing. Using a proxy for anything on a network does depend a lot on how clued up the sys-admin is. If they really know what they are doing they will stop you as soon as you start.. Can lead to an interesting running battle... ;-)
dont think you read what i said properly i said i alreayd no my way around blocked sites. I just want to find out how i can get away round it to download and install .exe files cause windows media player sucks i want vlc media player and i want to update the flash. Well I could bring the .exe files in on a memory stick but I wont be able to install them do you know anyway of getting round this?
I think it's you who haven't got what we are trying to tell you... We did read and understand your question... IF your college have blocked all downloads they have probably got the place pretty well locked down.. that's where a proxy shell account and some tunnelling comes in. BUT.. If you can't install any software you probably can't change system settings in the (I suspect) college computer. I'm wondering about this because you say you can't install from a stick..so therefore the computer isn't yours, and if so you have no right to go changing it's operating parameters or installing software. If I'm wrong about that situation I beg your forgiveness.. But it's what it sounds like to me... Not your computer + Not your network = Totally Stuffed.. (Hi Aus... have a good weekend dude?.. p.s... I like the pics on my page, real cute)
as jan said, please, jamo, tell us if we're going in the wrong direction with all this. but it seems, based on what you've said so far, we're not. aye, that i did, jan. hope you had one, as well. lol, i've been posting pics of that style on everybody's shoutboxes, but hoped you would like'em. ^.^
Game Over.. you have to put up with what's provided, or ask the computer department very nicely if there is any reason you can't have a better media player installed across the network. Point out some of the wmp security faults, and maybe they will install something nice for everybody as an option.
