Help! Ive had my Sony Dvd player for about 2 years, hardly used but well looked after. But for some reason it suddenly stopped playing ANY disk saying 'No Disk' Can this problem be fixed? or is it another way of keeping the economy going by shutting the product down after the warranty has expired? I have a 25 year Mitsibusi VHS player with better quality playback than the two new ones that broke down last year. Sony is losing its Customer Quality!!
Hi, I don't think this will help your situation, but it may help others who are getting the C13:00 eror. I just spent almost a week dealing with a similar problem with my SONY recorder. Here is what I found caused and resolved the issue. I had bought SONY DVD+R in hopes of eliminating any incompatibility with my SONY recorder. After going through about 6 disk and getting the C13:00 error code and many hours of transferring video, I borrowed a disk from a family member...a TDK DVD+R. Worked just fine the first time. We looked at the two disk and found the SONY has a different start point on the DVD so the DVD player can't start playing the DVD. Try using TDK DVD+R DVD Recordable disks. I found them at Target. Hope this helps. SONY should resolve this issue. How crazy is it that their own brand of DVD+R will not work with their own recorders.
My "number 13" problem is a bit more general. Some, but not all, of the discs I have bought from an online public domain source in the US, come up as unplayable with the C13:00 or No Disk message on my Sony machine after they have started (that is, not immediately). Others play just fine. Sometimes, but not always, a little persistence will get the disc to play, and sometimes it will only play with constant jerking and stopping. Is there a fix or any way around this?
Unfortunatly nothing worked, as the player would not recognised ANY CD or DVD back-up or original so I binned it and bought a new one for £20. My family have also had the same problem, around about the same time - strange? Bye Bye Sony!!!
