I have copied some tapes from my Sony Digital handycam. I used Pinnacle Studio 9 to capture from my Cam and then used it to convert them to an AVI. Then I used VOB DivxtoDVD to convert to VOB files and then Nero to burn to disk. I am finding that towards the end of the DVD the sound is out of sinc with the video. Surely a clean cam recording should copy over to DVD without this problem? Note audio/video sinc was fine when it was an AVI but when converted to VOB file the audio was out. Anyone advice please? Thanks!
This often happens, and you may first try use another converting program (e.g. DVDSanta, Winavi) to see if things are better. Good luck!
Will Super DVD Creator work ok then? Don't want to buy something that will give me same result as what I already have. I notice that both DVDSanta and Winavi are products you can try out before you buy but does this mean they limit the amount you can convert? I would like to try and convert the whole AVI to see if audio sinc if sorted before I buy, any ideas? Thanks guys for the suggestions much appreciated!
you are using firewire to capture arnt you? usb is no way to capture dv footage. if you are uisng firewire then the above tips wil sort you out. ive had no probs with vso divx2dvd. have you got adequate horsepowr?
Yep using firewire and have plenty of HP! I have used VSO many times with success but have found occasionally it will put the audio out of sinc for no real reason, but never expected it to do it with a home made cam movie.
VSO is a very reliable converter. But like you said, it has its share of problems sometimes. Switching to another program often works. Good luck!
As I have found this forum to be very useful especially when people post a follow up to a problem I thought I would do an update on mine. I decided to go with DVDSanta and it kept the audio in sync perfectly. Not sure if the end quality was as good as VOB (or was it just my imagination), but it worked that's the main thing. So hope this might help someone else one day! Thanks the advice guys!
Like VSO, DVDSanta is a very flexible encoder. But it doesn't burn well. So you may like to do the final burning with another program (e.g. Nero). Because of their differential capabilities, I am keeping several converters myself just in case.
