For christmas, i got a ton of Best Buy gift cards. With them, i'm looking to buy a new camcorder. I'll be using it for shooting family activities of my new daughter. My price range is approximatly 300-400$. I've been doing some research on different ones, and i've come across a few that i am intrested in. I'm not sure about getting a HDD camcorder though because of the file space it will take once transfered to my pc. I am thinking about the DVD camcorder because it will be easy for my wife to use as well.

Here are the 3 i am looking at:

    Sony HDD camcorder
    Sony MiniDV camcorder
    Sony DVD camcorder

I'm not necessarily set on the Sony brand. If anyone else has recommendations i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks all!

    EDIT:
After doing a bit more research, it looks like DVD camcorder recording times are horribly short. That being said, i'm also now looking at a few other HDD cameras:

    JVC GZMG630AU
    Panasonic SDR-H80A
