The subject says it all. I just bought a 720P HDTV and I have been connecting my Viao laptop to the HDTV with HDMI. The laptop has an HD video card capable of 1080P output, as well as an HDMI out.

Is there any software available to upconvert to 1080I DVDs that I would playback from my laptop to my HDTV?

    Cheers

You have a 720p set. That's what you want to output. 1080i is pretty worthless anyway.

Yes. There is a free program called FFDShow that can do everything (and more) that an upscaling DVD player can you. How many of those features you will actually be able to use is dependent on how powerful your laptop is.
