you need to make a vcd or svcd compliant disc that will play in your dvd drive

how you checked to see if your drive play vcd and svcd? some dont

No i will check now though. Not to sound dumb or anything, but how would i check if it is vcd or svcd compliant? Also, after checking if it is compliant, could i just burn the avi files onto the regular CDR? Sorry, im confusing.

looks quite a good player, it plays:

    dvd-r/dvd-rw/dvd+r/dvd+rw/vcd/svcd

you will need tmpgenc to encode to vcd format, check this link out for a detailed guide:

Oh, okay I think i am getting the hang of it. Thank you so much. Just to re-cap...I will have to convert the movie from kazaa's .avi to .mpeg with tmpge and then I will have to convert it to VCD using Nero..

once you have converted it to mpeg, just open nero and select vcd template, drap it accross, nero will check the format to see if it is a compliant vcd stream, then it will burn it for you

once burnt drop the disc into your dvd player and watch, providing you have done all the things correctly it should play

Cool, one more thing i promise thats it lol...What do you do if the movie has 2 parts? Convert both parts, and then select them all on the same cd?

not quite sure what you mean, do you mean that you have 2 avi and you want to put them onto the same disc?

if so you can join the avi`s together and then you end up with just one avi file

You can burn .avi files to a CD-R as data.
So you will still have the same exact file.
