can i connect two wireless routers together wirelessly?

and if so how, step by step would be nice. never done anything like this. have computers both upstairs and downstairs and cant connect them together physically. want to know if there is a way to connect both routers together wirelessly to improve signal strength to computer xbox and ps3 downstairs. i have two linksys routers, ones a WRT54GL and other one is older but now sure if there is difference look same but its about year older.

 

Short answer no, because the routers are designed to takes wired input as a connection only.

You could put a wireless bridge on one of the routers.
You might want to look in range boosters or extenders.
You could look into getting a router with wireless N. It is supposed have a stronger signal in more places, but you would also need N adapters to go with it to make much of a difference.

 

Ok that makes sense. how about if i use network share on a computer downstairs to go into the routers internet port (one where modem usually plugs into) could i connect computer downstairs that is wirelessly connected to router upstairs to the router downstairs and feed the internet to other devices downstairs? my girlfriends computer got some antenna connected to her wireless card and she got really good connection strength.

I just remember one other type of product. There are products out there that allow you to use regular electric outlets to send internet throughout the house.
