Im just startin out with backin up all my DVDs, and I got DVD Decrypter and some DVD5s ( I think, they hold 4.7 gigs), and Ive been tryin to backup most of my DVDs, but almost all of them wont work on Decrypter. The ISO files are too big to write on it. I tried DVD Shrink, but as I read the guide that was on here, it said to use the Decrypter. I kinda dont care too much about quality, as long as I dont have to turn em into MPEGs. I just wanna be able to back up file like Braveheart and Gladiator, even if I have to seperate them onto 2 discs. Can anyone help me? Im a noob in distress!
most dvds are dvd-9 which means that they will need compression to fit on a dvd-/+r. dvd shrink is free and will rip and compress. Check out these guides: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm http://www.dvdshrink.info/
hey man, thx for the response. I looked over the guides, and I got em backedup on my HD, but how do I get em back onto another DVD5? Can I use the DVD shrink, or do I have to use another one?
what movie are you trying to do? You will need a burning program. I recommend nero or recordnow max. shrink should work... what os are you using.
Ghostbusters for now, but I also got braveheart, gladiator, American beauty, and a few others thats got some special features, outtakes and such on them.
so shrink is not ripping. Try dvd decrypter in file mode. then shrink. What os are you using on your dinosaur computer?
lol, yea its pretty old. But now I got XP Pro on here. BTW: If I decrypt in file mode, what does that do? I usually decrypt and burn with ISOs on that program. And your sure if I decrypt in file mode I can burn it with Shrink? Like I said, Ive never used Decrypter in File mode before...
if you want to compress with shrink, you will need the ifo, bup, and vob. This necessitates ripping in file mode with decrypter. you then open shrink, click open files, find the video_ts.ifo and it will compress for you.
And if you are using -R's, burnatonce is a nice free burning app for the final write. http://www.burnatonce.com/ http://www.dvdshrink.info/burnatonce.php
