Can I remove MV from my PC's DVD burner?

    I just bought a LO SHW-160P6S DVD burner. Can I get a hack to remove MV? If yes how do I do it? I just tried to burn a DVD that I bought about a year ago but I can't get past simulation.

    I'm using a NEC 8X DVD drive for original DVD. I have WinXP PRO on my clone PC that I built.

    I think it is possible in some cases with hacked firmware. I found this whilest searching for more info, it may help you. I'll look into which firmwares you'd need and then how to go about doing it.

    If you are referring to Macrovision, then that's embedded in the DVD video data itself; the drive has nothing to do with it. Almost all DVD-copying tools remove it on-the-fly, such as AnyDVD, DVDFab Decrypter, DVD-Decrypter, etc.

    Yes I'm referring to macrovision. Ripper, Thanks for the link I'll check it out. Dunker, I have Nero (the free one that came with the drive) and it would not let me copy it. Yea, I know that MV is on the disc. So all I need is one of these other copyers you named?

    Yep. They'll do the job. Just remeber to keep them up-to-date.

    Yes, and AnyDVD, DVD-Fab, and Ripit4me will take care of the newer copy-protections as well. FYI, I'd check out some of the guides here on those programs, as Nero is a not the ideal tool for copying DVDs, at least not if you're copying onto Double-Layer discs. Odd as it may seem, beating the copy-protection is the easiest part of backing up DVDs; using the right compression program (if any), burning tools, and disc types is where things get a bit tricky.
