First off if you are Captureing to Mpeg-2 and want to edit Mpeg-2 files then you should NOT use Sony Vegas 6 because for it to save your Edited File it must re-encode the File which will greatly reduce the Quality and Take a Lot of Time....(You shouldn"t need any Plugins to Load Mpeg-2 files into Vegas Video 6 as Long as the audio isn"t AC3 as I do it all the Time)

If you want to edit Mpeg-2 files you should be useing a Native Mpeg-2 editor like "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard 2005" which can edit your Mpeg-2 files on a Frame accurate basis and it can add effects and Transitions all without quality Loss and the rendering of your Edited Project only takes a Few Minutes as Opposed to many hours with Vegas 6.....

If you really want to use Vegas to edit your Mpeg-2 files then the Best format to convert your Mpeg-2 files to would be Uncompressed AVI or HuffYUV encoded AVI as Both formats are Lossless (Which means there is no Qualitry loss when encodeing to this format) but the Files will be "HUGE" ,Uncompressed AVI sucks up about 1.2gb per minute of Video at Full resolution and HuffYUV encoded AVI"s suck up about 500mb per minute of Full res Video so if you have a Lot of Disk space then this won"t be Much of a Problem.....

    Good Luck
