Do you know that the player supports DVD-Rs?
What settings are you using in Nero?

I'd use something else for burning if I were you as Nero has compatibilty issues with some players. You will probably find a setting that will make it work on your player but then they might not work on anything else.

Burning in Nero as a UDF data disk (rather than the video DVD) gives the best chance of compatibility but having said that those discs don't work in one of my players.

    heres an update

i have used dvd decrypter to rip and burn a dvd-5 and it works in my player, so i know that the media is ok ( suprisingly its cheap media that it likes) and if it plays the backup then i know it my player plays dvd-r's

now my girlfriends player plays the backups burnt in nero, i have tried every setting udf 1.02, 1.50 joliet checked and unchecked, i have tried burning under the setting udf/iso and dvd-video, will it make a difference just burning as a dvd rom udf?

basically i think the fact that nero rearranges the files before it burns is pissing my wharfdale off!!

    has neone else found this?

"will it make a difference just burning as a dvd rom udf"

Yes (which is why I suggested it funnily enough), it's the mode that produces the most compatible DVDs just UDF and 1.02.
UDF/ISO is the same as the DVD Video mode

Use Prassi or Record Now Max and it will play in anything that plays DVR-Rs

I think that Record Now is the new version of Prassi (someone will correct me if I'm wrong)

A legal copy should be available from any decent retailer. If you want a free copy you'll have to search for yourself.

    Yes Malum I agree.
First I used the DVD-video mode and could only play it on the PS2 and not on 3 other standalone DVD players.
Now I use the DVD-ROM UDF/ISO mode (udf 1.02) and they play on the PS2 as well as on those 3 other standalone DVD players.
So I stick with this methode !
