I have an XBOX (dvd player) and plan to buy another DVD player. Is it possible to switch between them with a receiver? I am buying a receiver but I'm not sure if this is even an option.

Sure, it's possible. You'll just need to use one of the other inputs, that has a digital audio input, if you're using a 5.1 surround receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver, it won't matter much which other input you use. This is if you're going straight from dvd player, to tv, for video.
Above, I am talking about audio. If you want to run your video through the receiver, for easy switching between sources, you'll need to make sure the other input (with the digital in), also has a video input. In other words, you couldn't use the cd input..........
    Good luck!

most receivers will have slots for multiple stuff. Like if the connections are right you could used a DVD player in the VCR slot and just remember which DVD player is there. Then when you want to use that one you switch the receiver to VCR.
Or you can get a multi-input device. I have one that has 4 buttons for inputs, then one output that would go to your receiver in any slot you have open.
