    the code worked but i cant get any signal from my new network. it sez check status of services. what should i do?

    USA phone you have is only good for GSM 1900 MHz and if you're out of country, it's not going to work.

    Yes, go to Canada or back to the USA or somewhere that has GSM 1900 MHz or sell it on ebay.
