First time trying to back up a DVD. Using a Pioneer DVR-106D (firmware 1.07) and it keeps failing on -RW media. Copy of the log is attached.

    Any advice?

    raven219,

DVD XCopy and Xpress are not designed to be backed-up on a "practicing media".

Most RW media is used to store / erase / store information or to practice on.

Most standalone players won't even recognize RW media.

When you use 321's products use the media your burner's spec book recommends, it should work well.

    Major Hint:

XCopy programs hate "Roxio" programs and do not like anyone doing anything while the backup process is underway :))

    BTW -

    Thanks for the advice.

My standalone player has no problem playing RW media.

As I have bundle of RW discs any advice as to what software I should use?

    Cheers

Solved now. Found all the files DVD X had prepared and I using Nero to burn them.

One other question - The two RW discs I used with DVD X seem to have been formated and cannot be erased. Are thes now coasters?

    Cheers

    Raven,

As for me, I haven't run into that myself - many media comes with some type of warrantee, I'd send them back and get replacements, what can they do ? Say no ? My guess is that you'll get a couple of free RW discs in the post ;-)

They costs too much, it's why I go the single write media for backups :))
