I recently won a Canon ZR100 miniDV Cam in a contest (yay me!) and whenever I connect it to my laptop (the only computer I have with the correct firewire input) WindowsXP automatically puts it into moviemaker and creates a WMV file with it. The quality is horrible, especially when I have to convert it to MPG2 in order to get it to work for DVD authoring and burning. Here is my question: Is there any other way I can get the video to open in another program (retail, free, download trial, whatever) so I can save it as an MPG2 right off? Hell, even an AVI would be better than WMV. If the program could be easy to use, that would be great. I have an authoring program already (DVDLab Pro for teh win!) that I really enjoy, but its just that dagnabbit video format right off that messes it up. Any help would be appreciated. - SolShrike
You're fooled by Bill Gates. He just went through a lot of effort hiding... Check this article: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/tutorials/moviemakermistakes.php You can also use any of the free capture utilities listed here: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/downloads/freedownloads.php or any other decent video editing program.
