I need some help and I apologize if I am reposting this question today. I am using a Panasonic analog Camcorder as a source and using a Canopus ADVC-110 to do the .AVI conversion. It is set to Analog In mode. I have a cable that connects the camcorder to the Canopus (two audio jacks and one video jack). When I use DVIO or WINDV, the played video is displayed on the computer but it continually flickers and runs on the screen. The voice is distorted. I have changed tapes and cleaned the camcorder head. Is there anything I am doing wrong here? This is my first analog to digital conversion. Should I be using a different set of cables?

@Arunc The best answer is use a "S-Video" input for the video to the Canopus 110 to download the AVI. You will have video displayed on your monitor if you are using WinDV, but I doubt if you are displaying video using DVIO ,unless of course, you have a secondary monitor hooked up to the signal source (VHS)

@Xmatthew You will require additional hardware, either a Happauge card or the Canopus 100, 110 or 300 DV converter. Face it, if you want quality, then you have to pay for it. Additionally under quality, the Canopus ProCoder and the DVD-lab will also be required. There are other freeware programs that can do the job, but not really quality. Sorry if I have offended.

It is playing on my analog camcorder at the same time.(VCR mode) Is this the problem? The Canopus receives power through the Firewire. If I connect the Canopus with an additional S-video, what about the audio aspects?

T-Outlaw: I'm ordering the Canopus 300 tomorrow. Hopefully it'll do the trick for the transfers. Thanks for the advice.

I have bought the S-video cable and I still have the same problem. I have a cable coming into the Canopus from the analog camcoder(red, white, and yellow). The S-video cable is connected from S-video out to my computer. The screen runs with the displayed camcorder image and I dont get color. Any ideas? Do you think this is a Canopus problem?
I need some input from some experienced individuals.
